Relationship Practice Conversations

From the first date to meeting the parents and defining the relationship, love can be full of nerve-wracking conversations.

That's why we (Melissa and Nick), a couple who has been together for nearly a decade, and happily married for over five years, decided to create this series of practice conversations which allow you to practice these types of interactions before you actually have them in the real-world.

Practice First Date #1

In this free introductory practice first date, we'll ask you ten of the most common questions you might encounter on a first date. After completing this initial conversation, you can take your practice even further with the additional conversations listed below.

  • How do these practice conversations work?

Similar to talking to someone on the phone, you'll hear us ask each question without knowing what it will be ahead of time (closed captions are available if needed, but are turned off by default to more closely mimic a phone conversation). After the question is asked, you'll see a visual timer that will give you a sense of how long you've been talking for. When you're ready, you can click through to the next question and repeat the process.

  • How long will it take?

Each conversation includes 10 questions, so assuming an average response length of a minute or two, you'll be in and out in less than half an hour.

  • What if I want to repeat a conversation?

If you want another chance at the same questions, each conversation can be repeated as many times as you want.

  • What makes these conversations unique?

While there are many places you can get written advice on how to have these kinds of conversations, our practice conversations let you actually experience them.
